World Champions Iván ‘Iron Boy’ Calderón and Román ‘Rocky’ Martínez will defend their titles next September 12 in Coliseo de Puerto Rico José Miguel Agrelot in a presentation of PR Best Boxing Promotions. “There will be a great card in September 12 with Calderon and Martinez will defend their titles in their country with the fans of Puerto Rico, it’s great for them”, said promoter Ivan Rivera, presidente of PR Best Boxing Promotions.

WBO junior flyweight champion, Calderon (36-0-1, 6ko’s) will face philipine Rodel Mayol (25-3-1, 19ko’s) in a rematch of the June 13th fight, that ended in a technical draw because of a accidental headbutt that caused a hurto n Calderon’s head.

My predictions? Good little fight, as you say Mayol deserved the rematch and is getting it quickly. It’s going to be tough to take the title from Calderon full stop but in Puerto Rico that’s a big ask. I think Mayol was giving Calderon all he could handle back in June.

I don’t think Calderon is far from losing. I wonder if he gets through this if Top Rank may make a unification with Viloria provided he also wins his next fight.
