I think Travis Lutter gave A. [tag]Silva[/tag] his toughest fight yet and it was because it was on the ground so im not counting out thales yet i think an upset is very possible via submission.

I think Demian Maia should be the #1 contender for the middleweight championship next. That would be a very interesting fight. If the fight went to the ground, I think Maia could submit Silva.

Maia is undefeated and has easily beat everybody he has faced. Also, there is no more competition in the middleweight. Maia is the only serious competition Silva could have trouble with.

Now how would [tag]Leites[/tag] submit Silva? Leites first has to take Silva down. Then he has to get past Silva’s body triangle after which he’ll likely have no energy then have to deal with Silva’s submission defense in which, by the way, Silva earned a black belt from the Nogueiras. I just saw the Spike TV hype for the fight and Silva looked like he was busting his @$$ for this fight as a means for redemption from his fight with Cote. Don’t even get me started on how ridiculous that sounds. Dana White was babbling that Silva didn’t look like the Silva they are used to but the truth is that Cote should be kicked out of MMA for the stunts he pulled. Regardless – I think the best technique for taking out Silva is to catch him while he is in the air doing some crazy flying knee or something and take him directly down from there. The most critical part will be taking side control. From there Silva can not administer his body triangle which will give the fighter a chance to work. This is where the GnP comes in. Takase was the only person to ever legitimately defeat Silva and this is how he did it. The Chonnan loss, while impressive, was a 1 in a million type win – Chonnan was getting destroyed before he pulled off that flying scissor into a heel hook.
