Hello class! Today’s a new day for a new lesson! My first class resuming after the Sing and Blog update. Today I’ll cover up [tag]what META tags are[/tag] and how it affects [tag]SEO[/tag], and personally, my SEO experience; how I learned from it because of some google-ignores-my-posts thing.

Although most of the time, Offpage Optimization plays a big part with ranking to search engines, don’t let search engines penalize you just because of bad On-Page Optimization. [tag]Meta tags[/tag] play a big part on it, and ignorance could cost you big time.

So let’s discuss what META Tags are:
META is an HTML tag that you can use on the section of your code. When you add these codes to your site, it doesn’t actually appear on the page as an item. They are just in the page residing to keep intact of the additional information of the page’s content.

The META Attributes serves different purposes. I will provide the frequently used META tag attributes for SEO.

1. <title>This is the title that you will see on the top of your web browser! The title may be the most important of all 3 meta tags. If you will look at the top of your browser right now, my title meta tag will read “What META Tags Are”. </title>

2. <META name=”description” content=”This is the part where you can put the content description of what readers are going to see. To make this part search engine friendly, limit the words from 100 to 160. By the way this is what diplays on the search engine results’ description!“>

3. <META name=”keywords” content=”This META tag attribute provides search engines the keywords that you want your site be listed, in case someone searches for those keywords. Althoug this isn’t much considered in this algorithm-changing SEO environment, be cautious that SPAMMING this hurts a lot! I had an experience of testing this, and what I got? 3 of my SEO keywords was never indexed. Cool aight? (sarcasm on)“>
