We are already through with the OnPage Optimization, which was the article about getting your site formatted and optimized for search engines. Now, we are down to the last yet the hardest part of search engine optimization, the OffPage Optimization. But before that, I’ll give you a quick recap of what we did during the OnPage Optimization:

- We formatted the page title
- Of course, no OA page title
- We familirized with tagging
- We also did font formatting
- We made some image alt-ing, and;
- We put the keywords on top-left

Now what is OffPage optimization?
Offpage optimization is simply all the optimization factors that is not within your website alone. We are going though the big and real competition this time. It consists of the following factors to consider based on what I learned from my friends’ SEO tips:

1. What are the websites that links to your own website?
You must be able to distribute your site to a lot of websites and have them linked to you to gain a “vote”. That is the basic SEO marketing. The concept is, the more “votes” you get, the more chances you get your page to high ranks of search engines. Much important, if these websites  have the same article topic with what you have, it gives you higher quality “votes”.

- How would you know the number of links that link to your site? In Google, simply use the syntax link:<your website>. For example, if I will try to check the number of pages that link to my website per Google’s index, I’d type link:www.cealagar.com. Pretty neat aight?

2. What is the Google PageRank of those websites that link to you?
One of the toughest thing to do when marketing your site is making high GPR websites to link to you. The higher the PR of the link-ers are, the more chance you get that page 1 result on your target keyword.

- How would you know your Pagerank? Click my statistics widget with the “PR” text colored in green and orange. It’s a bit of a shame, uh huh. My main site is still PR0. Not fully indexed by Google yet. No worries. I just thought I’d share everything I learned anyway so if it’s a success for me and you followed, it’s your success as well! Must be a Win-Win situation right? :)

- Can’t find that bar? Download the Google Toolbar. After installing it, there will be an area that says “PageRank”. Hover your mouse in it with your site open, and see your ranking :)

3. What is the anchor text or the keyword that is used to link to you?
Anchor text is the text within the link. Wanna make this part easier? Make Money Online <— The word “Make Money Online” has a link to my site. Those 3 words are the anchor text. Easy yet powerful. This means that in this text “Now, you can download free PSP games fast and easy”, only the “free PSP games” is considered as anchor text. Please take note that if you want to optimize your site under a set of keyword, you must have inbound links that uses those words as anchor text, because search engines relies on anchor text sooooo much than the content.

4. How many are they?
Like I said a while ago, one of the big factors that lets search engines put your page on a higher rank is the number of inbound links to your page. Let’s say Yahoo.com. They must have a million of inbound links already. Like for example I made a link to Yahoo! <- this one. This counts as one vote of them. Got it?

5. And what are the IP Addresses of those websites?
Another big factor that affects the ranking of your page in searches is the IP addresses of the link-ers. Google favors sites that has plenty of inbound links from different IP addresses. This proves the fact that you cannot outwit the page 1 rankers in Google search when all you have to do is link your own website using your own site as well.

The Golden Rule for OffPage Optimization is to Match Their Powers.

Why do you think I said this? It’s because they possess the “crown” on leading those 5 basic factors, bringing them home the bacon. Now, I may simply say “just investigate the top ranked sites with your keyword based on the factors that I pointed out, and do more”, but you will always need a lot of hardwork and dedication to this. I mean, you have to outrank the top sites’ attributes on these factors to beat them bigtime. Like for example: A sample site that ranks number 1 for the keyword “Movie Love Quotes” on Google search has 50+ inbound links, 10+ inbound links that has a PageRank of 2 or 3, and uses the anchor text as exact as “movie love quotes”, you would have to beat that record. So it’s going a be a bunch of research and time.

Now, you might be asking already on how will you be able to send your links to those high pagerank sites or directories? I will be talking about it on my next article so stay tuned. The best you can do for now is subscribe to rss or email already so you get updates right after I posted the said article.
