A few days ago. I discussed more about promotion and advertisement. And still we are not done promoting your site! Because if you’ll think about it, it’s the popularity that counts to get plenty of visitors daily. And when we say popularity, it’s not just literally popularity to people around the world, but also to search engines!

So what constitutes popularity among search engines? One of the most vital is having tons of link exchange. If you have read about Offpage Optimization earlier, we were able to identify points to consider to optimize your site, offpage style.

Now let’s identify what link exchange is. Link Exchange is the process of… well, derived from the term itself, exchanging links! Haha! Pretty easy isn’t it? This takes place when you want to bring popularity to your blog among people with interest reading your articles.

Usually, link exchange starts by having the person link back to you with their site already linked to you. It’s all about your deal, doesn’t matter who goes first. What’s important is in the end, the two of you had an exchange of links to each other. Once you had this connection, search engine counts this exchange as a powerful “vote” to your site.

There are what we call 2-way link exchange and 3-way link exchanges. What I just tackled is about 2-way. To make 3-way link exchange easy to understand, here’s my illustration:

Pretty cool ain’t it? Search engines counts this LE as more powerful! Harhar! I mean, for example Google SE, a lot of these type of link exchange in your site will soon put you up high ranks in the Google SERP (Search Engine Results Page).

Here’s what you should remember in link exchanging:

1. Let them use your SEO keyword as anchor text. If you want higher votes for your site using the optmimized keywords “Make Money Online”, let your link partners link to you using that phrase as anchor text. In my case:

Make Money Online -> This is how you do it.

2. Never use this to make 1-way link! Yes, we all know that one-way link is great for your site, but never ever use this strategy to trick people to link to you, and soon after you’re just going to remove your links to them. This demonstrates bad networking to online people, which will give you a bad impression.

3. Don’t link to a bad neighbor. Bad neighbor means a site banned by Google in their search engines. The attributes of a bad neighbor is having a PR0 Rank -AND- not showing in Google SERP when you type the website address itself in the search bar. (I said the term “AND” because my site is still PR0 because Google haven’t updated the PageRank since I got this site up :D ). If you will link to a bad neighbor, that give a bad impression to search engines and chances are, you might get banned by SE as well! So be careful.

So, that’s what link exchange is all about. Start doing that exchange of sites now and gain higher page ranking in a matter of weeks! Weeee! :) Oh hey, don’t forget to subscribe to my feeds using RSS or E-mail aight? Stay tuned for more tips only here at Make Money Online!

Google hasn’t updated their PR since I got this website up :) I’ll have to wait until the next PR update.
